BI News, Palamu: On the occasion of Children’s Day, Deputy Commissioner Shashi Ranjan distributed baby care kits to mothers of newborns at Mediniray Medical College and Hospital. As part of the Safe Childhood, Happy Life campaign, he also provided encouragement and a cheque of Rs. 5,000 each to role models Aarti, Rani, and Nandani for their efforts in preventing child marriages.
In a program organized by the District Social Welfare Department on the occasion of Children’s Day, 40 baby care kits were distributed to mothers of newborns. These kits contain all the essential items required for the care of newborns. Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted that effective care of newborns can be ensured through baby care kits, allowing mothers to keep their newborns healthy and clean.
Furthermore, in another initiative, the Deputy Development Commissioner, Ravi Prakash, inspected the breastfeeding room with changing facilities. He emphasized the importance of maintaining hot water and other necessary facilities for the well-being of mothers and directed the regular operation of the facility to the District Social Welfare Officer.
District Social Welfare Officer Neeta Chauhan explained that the breastfeeding room with changing facilities at the district social welfare office building would benefit working women officers, female employees, and lactating mothers related to any work in the office building. This initiative aligns with the directives from the Delhi High Court to establish breastfeeding rooms at various offices and public places for the improvement of nutrition.

The ongoing campaign “Safe Childhood, Happy Life” in Palamu district, from October 31 to November 14, includes activities to prevent child marriages and child trafficking. As part of this, street plays, training sessions, oath ceremonies, and more are being organized at the block level. The campaign is a collaborative effort involving the Jharkhand State Child Protection Committee, UNICEF, and JSLPS.
Present at the program were District Social Welfare Officer Neeta Chauhan, Dr. R.K. Ranjan, Deepak Kumar, District Child Protection Officer Prakash Kumar, Protection Officer KD Paswan, UNICEF District Program Officer Dr. Tavrej Alam, Chairman of the District Child Welfare Committee Pranav Kumar Varenyam, members Dhirendra Kishor and Sudha Devi, among others.
