Lawyers should not wear uniform outside the court: High Court

BI News, Lucknow: Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court has issued an order regarding the lawyers of Uttar Pradesh. Do not cooperate with land mafia and lawyers involved in land matters by wearing uniform. The Lucknow bench of the High Court has ordered the UP Bar Council to issue guidelines.

This order was given by the division bench of Justice Sangeeta Chandra and Justice NK Johri on the petition of local advocate Shubhanshu Singh. The petitioner said that he practices in Civil Court, Lucknow. On September 21, 2023, some of the same advocates beat and robbed him, for which he lodged an FIR. In the petition, a demand has been made to get the case investigated by CBI or any other independent agency. The petitioner also says that he has requested the District Judge to preserve the CCTV footage related to the incident.


While hearing the petition, the court has summoned the concerned ADCP to discuss the situation. Also asked the District Judge, Lucknow, what action did he take on the request of the petitioner? During the hearing, the fact also came before the court that in land disputes etc., some advocates reach the spot wearing uniform and try to give the impression of being lawyers. On this, the court ordered the Bar Council to issue guidelines in this regard. After this order of the High Court, the way has now been cleared to stop the arbitrariness of such lawyers. Besides, the dominance of black coats will also be curbed. The court has fixed the next hearing of the case on November 28.
