The ‘Bharatatma Ashokji Singhal Ved Puraskar’ is annually awarded in memory of the founder member of the World Hindu Council, Bharatatma Shri Ashokji Singhal

BI News, New Delhi: On November 20, 2023, the honorable Governor of Gujarat, Shri Acharya Devvrat Ji, will present the ‘Bharatatma Ved Puraskar’ in the sacred memory of Shri Ashok Ji Singhal. The Bharatatma Puraskar distribution ceremony will commence at 5:00 PM at Shri Satya Sai Sabha Ghar, Lodhi Road, Pragati Vihar, New Delhi, Delhi 110003. This award distribution ceremony will take place in the divine presence of Revered Swami Shri Govinddev Giriji Maharaj. This marks the seventh installment of the Bharatatma Puraskar series.

The ‘Bharatatma Ashokji Singhal Ved Puraskar’ is annually conferred in honor of the founding member of the World Hindu Council, Bharatatma Shri Ashokji Singhal. The primary objective of this award is to recognize the best Vedic scholars in Vedic education and to perpetuate the sacred memory of Shri Ashokji Singhal for eternity. This is the highest national award presented annually in the Vedic field. The award is given each year in three categories: outstanding Vedic scholars, exemplary Vedic teachers, and the best Vedic institutions. Under this award, an exceptional Vedic scholar receives a medal, three lakh rupees, a certificate; an exemplary Vedic teacher receives a medal, five lakh rupees, and a certificate; and an outstanding Vedic institution is honored with a memorial symbol, seven lakh rupees, and a certificate.

This is the highest national award presented annually in the Vedic field. Selection Process: Recommendations and applications for the Bharatatma Puraskar-2023 were sought from all over India in the months of May and June. The received applications were screened based on predefined criteria and were kept confidential before a committee of Vedic experts. The committee has recommended three names in the category of outstanding Vedic scholars, three in the category of exemplary Vedic teachers, and two in the category of the best Vedic institutions. On November 19, a senior committee of Vedic experts will deliberate on these names and make the final decision, selecting the ultimate winner. Each category’s final winner will be honored with the Bharatatma Puraskar by the honorable Governor, Mr. Kar Kamal, in the award distribution ceremony on November 20 in Gujarat.

VedArpit Samman: The Singhal Foundation annually selects a Vedic scholar who has dedicated their entire life to practicing Vedic principles, made an invaluable contribution to the propagation of Vedic knowledge through the tradition of Shruti, and provided a significant contribution to the preservation of Vedic knowledge.

Sanjay Singhal, the trustee of the Singhal Foundation, shared that for the year 2023, the foundation has selected a scholar who has devoted their entire life to the study and teaching of the Vedas. This individual has made an invaluable contribution to the preservation and promotion of Vedic knowledge through the tradition of Shruti. Additionally, they have established an extensive disciple-successor lineage. The announcement of their name will take place during the ceremony scheduled for November 20.
