BI News, New Delhi : National Union of Journalists (India), Delhi Journalists Association and NUJI Uttar Pradesh unit have strongly condemned the attack on India News correspondent Shivprasad Yadav in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh at the behest of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Journalist organizations have demanded strict action against the Congressmen who attacked journalist.


NUJI National President Ras Bihari, General Secretary Pradeep Tiwari, National organizational secretary of NUJI Pramod Goswami, Delhi Journalists Association President Rakesh Thapliyal and President NUJI Uttar Pradesh unit Virendra Saxena said in a joint statement that the India News channels’s correspondent asked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi asked questions about Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi not attending the yatra.

It may be possible that Rahul Gandhi is angry with Akhilesh Yadav, but why was his anger vented on the journalist.
NUJI President Ras Bihari said, “In democracy, leaders of political parties have got freedom of speech, as so the media has also got the right to ask questions.” He said that it seems that Congress leaders are repeatedly insulting the media due to their declining support base. The Congress High command needs to upskill its leaders and spokespersons to give appropriate answers when asked questions.


NUJI Secretary General Pradeep Tiwari said that “Journalists were also beaten up at the Congress office in Bhopal.”
NUJ Uttar Pradesh President Virendra Saxena said that a large-scale movement will be launched in Uttar Pradesh against attacks on media persons.
NUJI’s National organization secretary Pramod Goswami said that these incidents would be raised in the Press Council of India regarding attacks on media persons in Uttar Pradesh. DJA President and convenor Rakesh Thapliyal said that very soon a memorandum will be given to the Union Home Minister regarding the increasing attacks on journalists and demanding action against the culprits.”
