Illegal Mining Crackdown Underway in Palamu

BI News, Ranchi: In a relentless drive against illegal mining, transportation, and storage, District Mining Officer Anand Kumar, under the guidance of Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shashi Ranjan, has taken stringent action. Following the directives, continuous operations have been initiated to curb illegal mining activities in the district. As part of this crackdown, an NH 98 forklift illegally carrying stone boulders was seized in Pipra Thana. Primary action has been taken against the vehicle owner, driver, and individuals associated with Shivālaya Construction for their involvement in illegal mining.

According to information received by Pipra Thana in-charge, during the construction work of NH 98, illegal stone extraction was taking place. A thorough vehicle checking campaign was conducted, leading to the discovery of the NH 98 forklift (registration number JH03AAL-0570) transporting stone boulders illegally. When asked for necessary documents, the driver failed to provide any, claiming that Shivālaya Construction, engaged in road construction, was responsible for the stone extraction. Subsequently, the vehicle, along with the stones, was seized by the Thana in-charge, and the information was reported to the District Mining Officer.

Upon investigation through the JEMS portal, it was confirmed that the activity was entirely illegal. In response, the District Mining Officer, along with the District Magistrate, directed immediate action against the vehicle owner, driver, and individuals associated with Shivālaya Construction. Strict measures will be taken against all those involved in this illegal business. District Mining Officer Anand Kumar emphasized the gravity of transporting illegally mined stones and assured a thorough and strict investigation into the matter. Measures will be taken against all individuals engaged in illegal activities without delay.
