BI News,New Delhi: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in India has recently released a report titled “Road Accidents in India – 2022,” which reveals a concerning increase in road accidents across the country. The report highlights that during the year 2022, a total of 461,312 road accidents occurred in states and union territories, resulting in 1,68,491 fatalities and 4,43,366 injuries.

Compared to the previous year, the data indicates a significant 11.9% increase in the number of accidents and a 9.4% rise in the fatality rate. Furthermore, the number of people injured in these accidents saw a substantial increase of 15.3%. These statistics reflect a concerning trend in road safety that needs immediate attention.

Out of the total accidents in 2022, 32.9% (1,51,997 accidents) took place on national highways, which include expressways. Additionally, 23.1% (1,06,682 accidents) occurred on state highways, with the remaining 43.9% (2,02,633 accidents) transpiring on other roads.

The report is based on data obtained from the police departments of states and union territories across India, following standardized formats provided by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) under the Asia-Pacific Road Crash Information (APRCI) project. It underscores the need for an immediate and comprehensive approach to address the factors contributing to these accidents.

BI News, Jharkhand : In a significant move, Chief Minister Hemant Soren distributed private job offer letters to 5132 young men and women at the Palamau ground. The event, named ‘Pramandal Rojgar Mela’, was organized at the Police Lines stadium. Present at the event were Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam, Labor Planning Minister Satyanand Bhokta, along with legislators Baijnath Ram and Ramchandra Singh, and Chief Minister’s Secretary Vinay Choubey.

From the stage, Chief Minister Soren handed out symbolic offer letters to 30 youths, emphasizing the government’s commitment to providing employment opportunities for the state’s youth. He highlighted the initiation of the Chief Minister’s Vehicle Scheme to connect villages with cities, ensuring enhanced connectivity across the state.

Speaking passionately, Chief Minister Soren affirmed the government’s priority to provide employment to the state’s youth, both in the public and private sectors. He shared that similar employment fairs in the past three months had provided offer letters to 27,000 youths. The government has also expedited the recruitment process in various departments, filling more than 20,000 positions. Furthermore, processes for nearly 40,000 positions through Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) are underway.

Chief Minister Soren underscored that the government is not only offering jobs but also providing support for competitive exams and assisting youths in pursuing courses like medical, engineering, and law. Skill development training programs are also being conducted to enhance the employability of the state’s youth.

Expressing his commitment to the welfare of farmers and laborers, Chief Minister Soren encouraged them to participate in the Birsa Harit Gram Yojana, promoting agriculture and increasing their income. He announced the initiation of the Abuha Housing Scheme, aiming to fulfill the dreams of eight lakh people by providing them with their own homes. Additionally, the Chief Minister’s Rural Vehicle Scheme will facilitate easy transportation for approximately one crore people.

Chief Minister Soren emphasized the state’s cultural heritage, art, and sports, and announced the hosting of prestigious national and international competitions in Jharkhand. He highlighted efforts to develop sports grounds in every village and panchayat, ensuring a bright future for local talents. BI News, Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has started the work of helping the farmers. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given orders to ensure the outstanding amount of sugarcane farmers in sugar mills.
Chief Minister Yogi said that sugarcane price payment should be ensured by issuing recovery certificates against the defaulting sugar mills which have not yet paid the sugarcane price for the crushing season 2022-23. After this strictness, Bajaj Group has sent a lump sum amount of Rs 1,371 crore to the accounts of farmers associated with its sugar mills in the last 24 hours. Sugarcane farmers have expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister. After the strict stance of the Chief Minister, the Sugar Industry and Sugarcane Development Department has released the sugar stock, molasses, etc. available in the sugar mills of other defaulting groups like Rana, Yadu, Oswal, Kesar, Simbhaoli, Modi and Shamli. Strict instructions have been given to ensure payment of sugarcane price from the money received by speedy sale of bagasse, bagasse and other by-products.

In case of non-compliance, sugar mills have been asked to send recommendations for issuing recovery certificates. Instructions have also been given to the departmental officers to keep a close watch on the sugar mills and ensure compliance with the tagging order. BI News,Kochi : A video of Hamas leader Khaled Mashal addressing an event organised by Islamist radical group Jamaat’s Solidarity Youth Movement had sparked a controversy. Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday said the police will probe the virtual address by Hamas leader at an event in the state.

Responding to a question on remarks made by Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Bharatiya Janata Party chief JP Nadda who alleged that the ruling government did nothing to prevent the Hamas leader’s address, Vijayan said,”If something wrong has happened, appropriate action would be taken”.

“The person referred to as a Palestinian warrior spoke at an event organised by the Solidarity Youth Movement, the youth wing of Jamaat-e-Islami. We need to see what he said. “It appears that the speech was a recorded one. We need to understand that issue properly”, Vijayan said.

Vijayan said that when Jamaat-e-Islami or any other organisation approaches the police for permission to hold an event, it is not denied. “That is what happened in the instant case,” he said.

“If something is wrong in that, the police will examine it, and action will be taken”, he added. The chief minister alleged that the BJP was aiming at implicating people in false cases for merely expressing support for Palestine, and asserted that it would not be permitted in Kerala.

Solidarity Youth Movement (SYM), the youth wing of Jamaat had organised a rally in solidarity with the people of Palestine. A video showing Khaled Mashal, the founding member of Hamas politburo, addressing the event via videoconferencing stirred a controversy. The viral video showed posters carrying tagline “Uproot bulldozer Hindutva and apartheid Zionism”.
