BI News,New Delhi:  Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is set to play a pivotal role in a momentous event as he participates in the culmination of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign’s Amrit Kalash Yatra at Kartavya Path on October 31, 2023, at approximately 5 PM. This landmark program will also mark the closing ceremony of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, which commenced on March 12, 2021, to celebrate India’s 75 years of independence.

During the event, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone of the Amrit Vatika and the Amrit Mahotsav Memorial. This symbolic gesture will pay homage to the heroic sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters who dedicated their lives to India’s independence. The event will see thousands of Amrit Kalash Yatris from across the country coming together to stand united against corruption and uphold the nation’s integrity.

One of the notable highlights of the occasion will be the launch of the ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ (MY Bharat) platform, designed to empower and engage the youth of the country. This platform, established as an autonomous body, aims to provide a comprehensive one-stop solution for the nation’s young citizens. It aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of offering equitable opportunities to every youth in India, leveraging technology to enable them to achieve their aspirations and contribute to the development of a ‘Viksit Bharat.’

The ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign, designed as a tribute to the valiant Veers and Veeranganas who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation, has encompassed a multitude of activities and ceremonies at various levels, ranging from Panchayat/Village to the National level. These activities included the construction of ‘Shilaphalakam’ (Memorial) to express gratitude to the bravehearts, ‘Panch Pran’ pledge-taking ceremonies, sapling planting of indigenous species, and felicitation ceremonies for freedom fighters and the families of deceased freedom fighters (Veeron ka Vandan).

The campaign has achieved remarkable success, with over 2.3 lakh Shilaphalakams built across 36 States/Union Territories, nearly 4 crore Panch Pran pledge selfies uploaded, 2 Lakh plus ‘Veeron ka Vandan’ programs conducted nationwide, more than 2.36 crore indigenous saplings planted, and 2.63 lakh Amrit Vatikas created under the Vasudha Vandan theme throughout the country.

The Amrit Kalash Yatra, a part of the campaign, involved collecting soil and rice grains from over 6 lakh villages in rural areas and from wards in urban areas, symbolizing unity and ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.’ On October 30, 2023, all states and Union Territories, represented by their respective blocks and Urban Local bodies, will combine mitti from their Kalash in one giant Amrit Kalash, and on October 31, Prime Minister Modi will address the assembled Amrit Kalash Yatris.

The Amrit Vatika and Amrit Mahotsav Memorial, constructed with soil collected from every corner of the nation, will stand as a lasting tribute to the sacrifices and valor of India’s freedom fighters.

This momentous occasion will not only conclude the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign but also mark the end of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, celebrating India’s 75 years of independence. The launch of ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ will further empower the nation’s youth and enable them to play a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s future as community change agents and nation builders. ‘MY Bharat’ will act as a bridge between the government and citizens, facilitating ‘Youth-Led Development’ across the country.

Severe blow to Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi liquor policy case

BI News, New Delhi : There will be no relief for Manisha Sisodia in the Delhi excise policy case as the Supreme Court rejects his bail plea. The Apex Court on Monday rejected the regular bail pleas of former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia in corruption and money-laundering cases related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam.

A bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice SVN Bhatti said it has recorded the statements of the probe agencies that the trial in these cases will conclude in six to eight months. But if the trial proceeds in a “sloppy manner”, then Sisodia will be at liberty to apply for bail in these cases in three months, the bench said. The court also noted that a money of ₹338 crore has been tentatively established in the case. “In the analysis, there are certain aspects which are doubtful regarding the transfer of ₹ 338 crore transfer is tentatively established,” the bench said.

The top court pronounced its verdict on Sisodia’s two separate regular bail pleas filed in corruption and money-laundering cases related to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy. It had on October 17 reserved its verdict on both the pleas.

Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26 for his alleged role in the “scam”. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader has been in custody since then. The ED arrested Sisodia in a money-laundering case stemming from the CBI FIR on March 9 after questioning him in Tihar jail. Sisodia resigned from the Delhi cabinet on February 28.

The Delhi high court denied him bail in the CBI case on May 30, saying having been the deputy chief minister and excise minister, he is a “high-profile” person who has the potential to influence the witnesses.

High alert in UP after bomb blasts in Kerala

On July 3, the high court declined him bail in the money-laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the city government’s excise policy, holding that the charges against him are “very serious in nature”.

The Delhi government had implemented the policy on November 17, 2021, but scrapped it at the end of September 2022 amid allegations of corruption. According to the investigating agencies, the profit margins of wholesalers were increased from 5 per cent to 12 per cent under the new policy.

The agencies have alleged that the new policy resulted in cartelisation and those ineligible for liquor licences were favoured for monetary benefits. However, the Delhi government and Sisodia have denied any wrongdoing and said the new policy would have led to an increase in Delhi’s revenue share.

BI News, Ranchi: The Jharkhand Education Department, in coordination with the Election Department, is making extraordinary efforts to register millions of young voters in Jharkhand. Spearheaded by Chief Electoral Officer Shri K. Ravi Kumar, this initiative aims to engage students in 11th and 12th grade, aged between 17 and 18, to sign up as prospective voters.

Using the E-Vidya Vahini portal, the campaign has successfully identified and marked 9.4 lakh potential voters across various districts, which have been sent to the district election officers. If this model proves successful, it has the potential to engage millions of new voters in future Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections.

In an effort to improve coordination between the Education and Election Departments, Chief Electoral Officer Shri K. Ravi Kumar held a virtual meeting on Saturday with district-level officials, including District Education Officers, Assistant District Education Officers, EROs, AEROs, and Block Education Extension Officers. During the meeting, he directed all officials to establish better coordination and conduct an intensive three-day campaign to facilitate the submission of advance Form-6 by prospective young voters in the state.

This campaign has involved around two million students, split into two categories: those whose age will turn 18 by January 1, 2024, and those whose age will reach 18 by October 1, 2024, or earlier. Officials have appealed to all individuals involved to put in their best efforts to ensure that the youth voters’ awareness is created and that no voter is left behind.

BI News, Ranchi: In a relentless drive against illegal mining, transportation, and storage, District Mining Officer Anand Kumar, under the guidance of Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shashi Ranjan, has taken stringent action. Following the directives, continuous operations have been initiated to curb illegal mining activities in the district. As part of this crackdown, an NH 98 forklift illegally carrying stone boulders was seized in Pipra Thana. Primary action has been taken against the vehicle owner, driver, and individuals associated with Shivālaya Construction for their involvement in illegal mining.

According to information received by Pipra Thana in-charge, during the construction work of NH 98, illegal stone extraction was taking place. A thorough vehicle checking campaign was conducted, leading to the discovery of the NH 98 forklift (registration number JH03AAL-0570) transporting stone boulders illegally. When asked for necessary documents, the driver failed to provide any, claiming that Shivālaya Construction, engaged in road construction, was responsible for the stone extraction. Subsequently, the vehicle, along with the stones, was seized by the Thana in-charge, and the information was reported to the District Mining Officer.

BI News, Varanasi : The Kashi Vishwanath temple trust will deliberate on a proposal for a dress code for pilgrims at its next meeting, its chairman Nagendra Pandey said on Saturday. He noted that it was a ”complicated issue” and they need to bear in mind the sentiments of various sections and the ”practicality” of implementing the proposal.

Pandey said the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Nyas will study how dress codes have been enforced in other temples in the country. ”There has been a demand from local people, devotees and also from members of the media that there should be a dress code in the Kashi Vishwanath temple and this issue will come up for discussion during the meeting of the Nyas likely to be held in November,” Nyas chairman Nagendra Pandey told this correspondent.

A proposal requiring men to wear dhoti-kurta and women to be dressed in saree during ‘darshan’ in the sanctum sanctorum will be deliberated upon during the meeting, Pandey said.

”In the recent past, there has been a heavy flow of pilgrims… and a demand has started emerging that a dress code like those in other prominent temples of the country be imposed here, but we have to think about the practicality of the matter as well,” he said.

Pandey said, ”Those who have been to Tirupati temple as well as Meenakshi and Ujjain temples, they come here and discuss it (need for dress code). This matter is coming to us from different areas and we will see what decision we (temple trust) can take unanimously.” ”We will also study how it is being enforced in other temples of the country. We have to see that those visiting are decently dressed,” he said.

”People come from far-off places with complete devotion and queue up for darshan. They cannot be stopped, harming their religious sentiments, or forced to buy new clothes and arrange changing rooms. ”This is a very complicated issue and is not an easy one,” he stressed.

”As of now, there is no problem with those coming from villages and other areas. Only a few having modern leanings coming from metropolitan cities can be those whose way of dressing could be of some problem.

”We expect from the people that they come properly and decently attired, be it from the country or abroad. As of now there is no dress code enforced on those coming here,” he said.

Mr. Singh said that this campaign has generated enthusiasm and patriotic will among the youth. Under the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, the first phase of Meri Maati, Mera Desh campaign was launched across the country on 9 August 2023, through which the public was encouraged to pay tribute to the brave men and women of India who sacrificed their lives for the nation. Dedicated and sacrificed his life.

This campaign symbolizes the spirit of patriotism, unity and social responsibility, which conveys the collective duty towards the motherland. This campaign has been run at Panchayat/Village, Block, Urban Local Body, State and National level, involving people across the country in various activities like construction of Shilaphalakam, construction of Amrit Vatikas, plantation of trees, salutation of brave men, and Panch Pran ceremony. Through this medium he was inspired to participate in the Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign.

The second phase of Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign was launched in the month of September, in which people of every district/village were encouraged to participate in Amrit Kalash Yatras. Till 30 September, soil was collected from the villages in Amrit Kalash, which was sent to the blocks till 13 October. From the block level, the urns have been brought to the capital of the respective state/union territory and to conclude the campaign today, Amrit Kalash from across the country will be taken to Delhi from 28th to 30th October.

That will be sent together from here for the duty path to New Delhi. Amrit Vatika will be built in honor of the martyrs near the National War Memorial in New Delhi with soil brought from every state of the country.

On this auspicious day of Sharad Purnima, renowned fasting saint Dada Guru Ji was gracing the occasion with his spiritual blessings elaborating the need to free Maa Yamuna from the shackles of pollution, degradation and filth. This day also marked as Spiritual leader Dada Guru ji started his 9 days long Yamuna Yatra from Delhi to Mathura to highlight the cause of sacred River Yamuna. He expressed displeasure with sorry state of affairs of the holy river.

Tiwari added, “ During the course of 185 Kms long Yamuna yatra, Dada Guru Ji will establish a series of Nadi Samvad (River Dialogue) with people to get them educated about the religious and cultural importance of Yamuna. Rivers and their waters have a great significance in bestowing auspiciousness to the world as expressed in the Apah Suktam of the Rig Veda. From October 28 to November 5, 2023, Dada Guru ji will talk with people along the banks of River Yamuna to comprehend, investigate and explore the vital issue of saving rivers from pollution and degradation. Yamuna Yatra will culminate in the historic town of Mathura. During his walk, 1100 days long fasting saint will interact with the farmers, villagers, students, local communities and other stakeholders of rural India along the banks of the River Yamuna.

POLLUTION : Long ago, the waters of Yamuna were pristine blue but today the Yamuna is considered to be one of the severely polluted rivers in the world. The Yamuna is particularly polluted downstream of New Delhi, the capital of India, which dumps about 58% of its waste into the river. The most pollution comes from Wazirabad, from where Yamuna enters Delhi. About 57 million people depend on Yamuna waters as it accounts for more than 70% of Delhi’s water supplies, but today it is also referred to as  ‘Delhi’s dying holy river’.

Yamuna is the second largest tributary of River Ganga and the longest tributary of India, it originates from Yamunotri glacier in Uttarakhand and flows across seven states and merges with the river Ganga at Sangam in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

Religious Significance: Yamuna is worshipped in Hinduism as the ‘Goddess Yamuna’ and as per Hindu mythology is the daughter of the Sun and sister of the Yama the ‘God of Death’. It is common practice for people to bathe in the sacred waters to rid oneself of sins and the last rites of the dead are also performed at its banks.

Socioeconomic Significance: It helps create the highly fertile alluvial Yamuna- in the Indo-Gangetic plain. Nearly 57 million people depend on the Yamuna’s waters. With an annual flow of about 10,000 cubic billion metres, the river accounts for more than 70% of Delhi’s water supply.

During this, while talking to journalists, Sanjay Jha said that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar toured the country and worked to unite all the opposition parties and he has played the most important role in building the India alliance. He also wished that seat sharing should be discussed before the assembly elections to be held in five states, but this was not possible due to the busyness in elections.There will definitely be positive discussion on seat sharing after the assembly elections.  Different committees of India Alliance are doing their work in this regard.

Sanjay Jha said that fighting the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections separately will not affect the India alliance. When our party was with the NDA alliance, there were many such occasions when we contested elections separately in other states. Sanjay Jha said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi no longer discusses the works of revered Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Whatever development work was done during his tenure, BJP does not even mention it.

He said that the Prime Minister should tell what changes have taken place in the lives of the common people of the country since 2014?
