BI News, Hyderabad : Ruling BRS MLC K Kavitha on Saturday slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his allegations that Telangana is the most corrupt state in country. She said the Gandhi scion “is not a leader and he just reads out whatever scripts are handed over to him”.
Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s comments during rallies in poll-bound Telangana terming the ruling BRS as the “most corrupt regime” in the country, Kavitha, daughter of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said that according to a central government survey, Telangana is the least corrupt state in the country.

Kavitha hit out at the former Congress president saying “Rahul Gandhi ji is unfortunately not a leader, he just reads out whatever scripts are handed over to him. Rahul Gandhi ji really should do his homework before he comes to any other state to campaign”.
She further said KCR (as the Telangana CM is also known as) is not a regular political leader like anybody else — he is movement leader.
“He has come out of a movement, he has come out of grassroots. He understands the issues and problems of the total region,” she said.

The BRS government focused on investments in the state which would create a lot of job opportunities for the youngsters and increase the overall wealth of the state, Kavitha said.
Telangana’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has increased, the BRS leader pointed out, adding that the figures are much better than in any other state.

RJD Office Celebrates Bihar Kesari Shri Krishna Singh’s Birth Anniversary

0

BI News, Patna: Today, the birth anniversary of the first Chief Minister of Bihar, Bihar Keshari Babu Shri Krishna Singh was celebrated in the state office of Rashtriya Janata Dal under the chairmanship of State Vice President of the party Vrishin Patel. On this occasion, a wreath was laid on his oil painting and his personality and work were highlighted by the party leaders.

In his presidential address, Vrishin Patel said that he was the first Chief Minister of Bihar, who has drawn such a long line with his work and character, which no one has been able to cross till date. Divided into castes even today, Dalits face many problems in the era when there was untouchability and discrimination in the name of caste. He entered the temple taking the Dalits with him, due to which he had to face a lot of opposition. During his rule, many works were done in Bihar on the basis of development.

In his address on this occasion, the party’s national spokesperson Karuna Sagar, throwing light on his biography, said that since childhood, he was counted as a bright student of the school. He completed M.A. from Calcutta University. After completing his studies, he took a law degree and started practicing law in Munger. In 1916, he met Gandhiji and stood with the farmers of Champaran. Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi declared him the first Satyagrahi of Bihar. He was elected member of the Central Assembly in 1939.
When the government was formed in Bihar after independence, he was elected the first Chief Minister. He is the creator of modern Bihar.

RJD spokesperson Chittaranjan Gagan said that after his death, when his safe was opened, only Rs 24,500 and a letter were found in it in which he had written that out of this amount, Rs 20,000 should be given to the Congress Party and Rs 3,000 should be given to the son of his political friend Shah Uzair Munibi. He had written Rs 500 to be given to his servant. He said that during the Chief Ministership of Shri Babu, Bihar became the first state to abolish Zamindari.

Biden Cautions Israel Against Striking Hezbollah in Lebanon

0

BI News, Agencies : The American President Joe Biden and his top aides have been urging Israeli leaders against carrying out any major strike against Hezbollah, the powerful militia in Lebanon, that could draw it into the Israel-Hamas war, U.S. and Israeli officials say.
The U.S. officials are concerned that some of the more hawkish members of Israel’s war Cabinet have wanted to take on Hezbollah even as Israel begins a long conflict against Hamas after the Oct. 7 attacks. The Americans are conveying to the Israelis the difficulties of battling both Hamas in the south and a much more powerful Hezbollah force in the north.
U.S. officials believe that Israel would struggle in a two-front war and that such a conflict could draw in both the United States and Iran, the militia’s main supporter.
The effort by top U.S. officials to head off an Israeli offensive on Hezbollah, reported in detail here for the first time, reveals anxieties by the Biden administration over the war planning of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his aides, even as the two governments strive to present a strong united front in public.

U.S. officials want to rein in Hezbollah, too. In numerous meetings across the Middle East, U.S. diplomats have been urging their Arab counterparts to help pass messages to the militia, including via their contacts in Iran, to try to prevent any Israel-Hezbollah war from erupting, whether through actions by the militia group or by the Israelis. U.S. officials feared that Netanyahu might approve a preemptive strike on Hezbollah in the immediate aftermath of the Oct. 7 attacks by Hamas, which killed more than 1,400 people. Although those fears have receded for now because Netanyahu cooled to the idea, anxieties still persist over two possibilities: an Israeli overreaction to Hezbollah rocket attacks, and harsh Israeli tactics in an expected ground offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip that would compel Hezbollah to enter the war.

“India Refuses to Pay for Russian Oil in Yuan”

U.S. officials have advised Israeli counterparts in meetings this week to take care that their actions in the north against Hezbollah and in the south in Gaza do not give Hezbollah an easy pretext to enter the war. Those sensitive talks took place during Biden’s visit to Tel Aviv on Wednesday and during Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s long negotiations in Israel earlier this week. In both visits, the U.S. officials met with Netanyahu and his war Cabinet, almost unheard of in Israel’s history. They avoided using blunt language to warn the Israelis away from provocative military actions because they understood the vulnerability felt by Israeli officials after the Oct. 7 attacks. But both Biden and Blinken made their concerns clear, said U.S. and Israeli officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to talk frankly about diplomatic discussions during wartime.

Egypt-Gaza border crossing opens, letting desperately needed aid flow to Palestinians
Rafah (Gaza Strip) : The border crossing between Egypt and Gaza opened on Saturday to let desperately needed aid flow to Palestinians running short of food, medicine and water in the territory that is under an Israeli siege.

More than 200 trucks carrying roughly 3,000 tonnes of aid had been positioned near the crossing for days before heading into Gaza. An Associated Press reporter saw the trucks entering.
Israel blockaded the territory and launched waves of punishing airstrikes following the October 7 rampage by Hamas militants on towns in southern Israel.
Many in Gaza, reduced to eating one meal a day and without enough water to drink, are waiting desperately for the aid. Hospital workers were also in urgent need of medical supplies and fuel for their generators as they treat huge numbers of people wounded in the bombings.
Meanwhile, Israel and Palestinian militants traded fire on Saturday after Hamas released an American woman and her teenage daughter, the first of some 200 captives to be freed after the militant group’s October 7 rampage into Israel.

Gaganyaan Test Flight Marks Success as Crew Escape Module Splashes Down Safely

ISRO Chief S Somanath Announces Successful Completion of Gaganyaan’s First Flight Test Vehicle Abort Mission-1 (TV-D1)

BI News, Agencies : ISRO scientists, after a two hour delay and nerve-wracking moments as the engine of TV-D1 failed to ignite initially, on Saturday launched the rocket carrying payloads related to crew safety in Gaganyaan mission with precision from Sriharikota and achieved the goal of Crew Module and Crew Escape separation.
ISRO chief S. Somanath said, Gaganyaan’s first Flight Test Vehicle Abort Mission-1 (TV-D1) was successfully accomplished. The automatic launch sequence began at 8.30 AM IST, but the mission’s ground computers halted the sequence after observing an anomaly, according to ISRO chief. Since then, the issue has been identified, and the mission launched at 10 AM IST on Saturday. The Crew Escape System successfully separated the Crew Module from the launch vehicle. After descending using parachutes, it splashed down successfully in the Bay of Bengal.

The primary objective of this Flight test vehicle Abort mission was to demonstrate the performance of the Crew escape system as part of the Gaganyaan mission. The mission aimed to evaluate various subsystems of the Test Vehicle, including the Crew Escape System and its separation systems. Additionally, it sought to assess crew module characteristics and demonstrate the deceleration system at higher altitudes and its recovery.

“Accused in Nithari Serial Killings, Moninder Singh Pandher, Released from Jail”

The Test Vehicle used for this abort mission was a single-stage liquid rocket specifically developed for this purpose. It carried the Crew Module (CM) and Crew Escape Systems (CES) equipped with their fast-acting solid motors, along with CM fairing (CMF) and Interface Adapters. The mission simulated an abort condition during the ascent trajectory, corresponding to a Mach number of 1.2, which is encountered during the Gaganyaan mission.

The successful execution of this test flight marks a significant achievement for India’s space exploration efforts, showcasing the country’s potential to send humans into space. The Gaganyaan project aims to demonstrate India’s human spaceflight capabilities by launching a crew of three members into a 400 km orbit for a 3-day mission, ensuring their safe return by landing in Indian waters. Upon its completion, India will become the fourth nation, after the US, Russia, and China, to undertake a manned spaceflight mission.
“India is now poised to take another giant leap in space exploration. Today, ISRO launched the TV-D1 Test Flight of Gaganyaan into space, marking a significant milestone. Congratulations to our brilliant scientists on the successful test flight,” tweeted Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

BJP’s Second List Includes Vasundhara; Congress Nominates Gehlot and Pilot for Sardarpura and Tonk

BI News,New Delhi : Rajasthan is in full electioneering mood and mode. In the run up for the November 25 polls to the 200-member assembly, the Congress and BJP on Saturday named more candidates for the upcoming Rajasthan assembly elections. While the BJP has fielded the state’s former chief minister Vasundhara Raje from her traditional Jhalrapatan seat, the Congress fielded Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot from Sardarpura and his former deputy Sachin Pilot from Tonk.

BJP’s list

The BJP also decided to field Narpat Singh Rajvi from Chittorgarh after its earlier decision to deny the five-term MLA, who is the son-in-law of its stalwart leader Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, renomination from his Vidhyadhar Nagar seat. This triggered a backlash from a section of party workers. The BJP leadership’s about-turn on his candidature is being seen as a damage-control exercise after Rajvi reacted angrily and cited his family legacy to hit out at the party, it said. The names also include Vishwaraj Singh Mewar, a descendent of Maharana Pratap Singh, who joined the party recently. He has been fielded from Nathdwara, which was won by veteran  in 2018.

Former state BJP president Satish Poonia has been fielded from Amber, the seat he currently represents in the Rajasthan assembly. The name of its leader in the assembly Rajendra Rathore also figured in the list. With the second list, the BJP has so far named 124 candidates for the November 25 polls to the 200-member assembly.

  • Both the parties have released their candidate lists for Rajasthan assembly polls
  • BJP has so far named 124 candidates for the November 25 polls to the 200-member assembly
  • Meanwhile, the Congress released its first list of 33 candidates.

Congress’s list

The Congress released its first list of 33 candidates for the Rajasthan assembly elections, fielding Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot from Sardarpura and his former deputy Sachin Pilot from Tonk. Speaker C P Joshi will contest from his Nathdwara assembly seat, while the party’s state unit president, Govind Singh Dotasra, has been fielded from Lachhmangarh. Minister Harish Chaudhary will contest from Baytoo and Mamata Bhupesh from the Sikrai-SC seat.
The Congress is yet to declare candidates on a majority seats as its Central Election Committee will meet on Sunday to finalise names for more seats. Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot refuted reports about the delay in ticket distribution to his rift with party leader Sachin Pilot. He said there were no differences within the Rajasthan unit of the Congress. He claimed he had not opposed the candidature of even one candidate (of the Pilot camp) and was taking decisions in favour of Sachin Pilot’s supporters.

“The pain of the opposition regarding the selection process is that why are there no differences in the Congress party. I am sure you are talking about Sachin Pilot. All the decisions are being made by everyone’s opinion. I am participating in the decisions of Sachin Pilot’s supporters, in their favour. Only the BJP is concerned with smooth decision-making,” he said.
He added:”We are all united. I’ve not opposed any single candidate (of Pilot side)”. “After Sonia Gandhi became (Congress) president, the first decision she took was to make me the chief minister. I was not the CM candidate but she selected me as the CM…I want to leave the CM post but this post is not leaving me and it won’t leave me also,” he said.
The chief ministerial post was the main bone of contention between Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot in 2018. The tussle over the post and its fallout precipitated the unsuccessful 2020 rebellion, which ended with Pilot losing his posts of deputy chief minister and state Congress president.
The Congress held several round of lengthy meetings to finalise the final list of candidates for the November 25 elections. Reliable sources said the delay was the consequence of differences in the party over denial of tickets to some ministers. Gehlot is reportedly keen on rewarding his ministers for supporting him during the rebellion. He also wants to give tickets to the six BSP MLAs who joined the Congress in 2019. The party leadership, however, wishes to snub those who have small chances of winning the polls.

Akhilesh Yadav Asserts: Only Samajwadi Party Can Compete with BJP

0

BI News, Lucknow: Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav has said that inflation, unemployment, injustice and atrocities are at their peak under the BJP government. Only Samajwadi Party can compete with BJP in Uttar Pradesh. That is why the BJP government is doing the most injustice and atrocities on the leaders of the Samajwadi Party. Socialists will have to be prepared for every contest with BJP.
While addressing the two-day training camp of Samajwadi Party under the Lok Jagran Abhiyan in Hardoi district, Akhilesh Yadav said that the leaders and workers of Samajwadi Party are learning many things in the training camps. I am confident that party leaders, workers and booth level comrades will work to strengthen the party. The general public has faith in the policies and programs of the Samajwadi Party. Samajwadi Party is going to win the Lok Sabha elections in the coming time. He said that there is no time left for elections. In the coming four-five months, the entire country and state will have an electoral atmosphere. The biggest responsibility of removing BJP in this election lies with the socialists. We have confidence in our workers and leaders that the Samajwadi Party will unite and fight the BJP with full force and defeat it.

Akhilesh said that the BJP government is working for the industrialists while the socialists worked for the common people, farmers and youth. Examples of this are the Agra-Lucknow Expressway built during the Samajwadi government and the Ganga Expressway being built during this government. One crore rupees is coming into the government treasury every day from the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. This is a government expressway. The toll on Ganga Expressway may be more than Rs 1 crore per day. It will not go to the government treasury. That will go into the pocket of an industrialist. Mr. Yadav said that this is the difference between the way of working of Samajwadi Party and BJP. Why doesn’t the Chief Minister speak the truth even on employment? Today a large number of youth are unemployed in every village. They don’t have any work. The situation in many villages is that 100 percent youth are unemployed.
Akhilesh Yadav said that today BJP has no answer to the rising inflation. BJP has completely failed to stop inflation. The price of everything has been increased. Its profits are going into the pockets of industrialists. If we talk about inflation only in diesel and petrol, then remember what was the price in 2014 and how much it has increased now. BJP also increased inflation in food items and other essential items. Inflation increased so that his industrialist friends could profit.

Yadav said that BJP is anti-farmer. On one hand, it is making profits to the industrialists by increasing inflation but it is not even providing the cost price of wheat and paddy to the farmers. There was no government procurement of wheat. Four-five industrialists of the country have purchased the entire wheat from the farmers of Uttar Pradesh and have also earned profits from it. Paddy is ready but this government has not made any arrangement to purchase paddy. Farmers’ paddy is not being purchased anywhere. In this also the middlemen dominate and the farmers are being looted. If Samajwadi government is formed, we will ensure that farmers get full MSP for crops and they get benefits.
He said that instead of providing health, education facilities to the general public and working towards reducing inflation and unemployment, the BJP government is committing injustice and atrocities on the leaders and workers of the Samajwadi Party. Samajwadi Party leaders and workers are facing the most injustice in this government. In the history of the country and in any state, the amount of injustice that the BJP government has done to Mohammad Azam Khan Saheb and his family would not have been done to anyone. Sending Azam Saheb and his family members to jail was a well-planned conspiracy and conspiracy of the BJP. He said that we hope that as soon as we go to another court, they will get justice and they will participate in the programs with us.

“Canada Suspends Visa and Consular Services in Chandigarh, Mumbai, Bengaluru”

Yadav said that BJP is a government of propaganda. Just as a minister in Hitler’s government was the Propaganda Minister, in the same way a unit of BJP runs propaganda. To counter the BJP, the Samajwadi Party is running a public awareness campaign and training camps.
While addressing the worker training camp, National General Secretary of Samajwadi Party Shivpal Singh Yadav said that the BJP government is the most corrupt and dishonest government till date. Socialists have replaced many corrupt and dishonest governments in Uttar Pradesh. Now the socialists do not have to sit. BJP government has to be changed. Socialists will have to fight against injustice and oppression. The history of socialists has been that whenever they came out, those who committed injustice and atrocities would run away. No one had the courage to confront the socialists.
He said that whenever Samajwadi Party has been in power in Uttar Pradesh, there has been development in the entire state. Work was done in all 75 districts under Yadav’s government. Roads were built. Bridges were built and other development works were done. But no development work has been done in the last seven years.

Tyagi Warns: Crime Reaches Alarming Levels in the State

0

BI News, Lucknow: Trilok Tyagi, General Secretary, Organization of Rashtriya Lok Dal, said in a press conference held at the state office on Saturday that crime is at its peak in Uttar Pradesh and incidents of harassment of women are continuously increasing. There is no such thing as law and order in this government. In the present government, farmers, laborers, youth, Dalit minorities, all sections are feeling cheated and unemployment is at its peak and the youth are agitating.
He said that the biggest issue for the sugarcane farmers is the payment of sugarcane price and the remunerative price of sugarcane but the government has betrayed the farmers. According to the Cane Act, in case the sugarcane is not paid within 14 days, there is a provision to pay interest along with the sugarcane price to the farmers. Due to the dictatorial attitude of the government and the love of the capitalists, thousands of crores of rupees of the sugarcane farmers are stuck. As a result, the sugarcane farmers are stuck. I am deeply disappointed.

The government has also cheated the farmers by reducing the weight of urea bags. He said that National President of Rashtriya Lok Dal Chaudhary Jayant Singh is striving for a better future of sports and players. He said that the daughters of Meerut have brought glory to the country. The daughters have set an example that if facilities and opportunities are available, our players can hoist the flag of the country on every stage and in every field. Jayant Chaudhary is encouraging the players and helping in every possible way from his funds.

“The High Price of Economic Growth: Himalayan Mining Threatens Civilization”

Tyagi supported the demand for restoration of student unions in universities and colleges and said that Rashtriya Lok Dal is with the students. The state government should announce the restoration of student unions.
Tyagi warned the BJP government and said that now BJP is a guest at the Center for only a few days. The people of the country and the state are fed up with their jungle raj, the people suffering from inflation are ready to teach them a lesson in 2024.

Deforestation in the Himalayan Tract: Paradise Lost

0

BI News, Indian: It’s disheartening to learn that local fuelwood collection isn’t the primary cause of deforestation in the Himalayan tract. Instead, the staggering 30% deforestation over the past three decades can be attributed primarily to commercial harvesting and governmental mismanagement. This alarming trend raises concerns about the fragile ecosystem in this pristine region.

A decline of 902 square kilometres in forest cover was recorded in hill districts of the country as compared to 2019, found the State of Forest Report, 2021. The loss is much more pronounced in the Himalayan states that reported an overall loss of 1,072 sq km of forest cover.closer look revealed geographical disparities, with states in the northeastern region faring the worst.

Arunachal Pradesh (16 hill districts) has lost 257 sq km of forest cover with respect to the State of Forest Report 2019, Manipur (nine hill districts) has lost 249 sq km, Nagaland (11 hill districts) has lost 235 sq km and Mizoram (eight hill districts) has lost 186 sq km. Assam (three hill districts) has lost 107 sq km, Meghalaya (seven hill districts) has lost 73 sq km, Tripura (four hill districts) has lost four sq km, Sikkim (four hill districts) has lost 123 sq km.

On the other hand, Uttarakhand (13 hill districts), Himachal Pradesh (12 hill districts), Jammu & Kashmir (22 hill districts) and Ladakh (two hill districts) have gained two sq km, nine sq km, 29 sq km and 18 sq km, respectively.

There are only 35 billion trees in India to shade a population of 1.3 billion. Among highly populous countries, India (population, 1.267 billion) has a tree population of only 35 billion, leading to just 28 trees per person.

At the time of independence, India had approximately 700 trees per person. However, to balance the country’s biodiversity in accordance with its population, an estimated 140 billion trees are needed. This signifies the stark contrast between the existing tree count and the desired number required for a sustainable environment. The significant disparity calls for urgent action and initiatives to restore and enhance the green cover in India, as it plays a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance and preserving the nation’s natural resources.

There is probably no other area of India’s environment that has been more viciously attacked and destroyed in the last century than the country’s forests. The current rate of deforestation is placed well over one million hectares every year.

“Accused in Nithari Serial Killings, Moninder Singh Pandher, Released from Jail”

The rate of depletion of forests in the Himalayan ranges, which represent a quarter of C, is so immense that this mighty mountain chain could become bare by the first half of the next century. In the middle Himalayan belt, which rises to an average height of 3000m, the forest area, originally estimated as being a third of the total area, has been reduced to a mere six to eight per cent. The forests are not regenerating, therefore growing stocks have dwindled and most forests have been totally encroached upon and destroyed.

Sunderlal Bahuguna, the champion in the cause of environmental preservation rated the commercial exploitation of forests as the most powerful one. Another factor is the construction of roads without adequate soil conservation measures.

Controlling deforestation in Himalayan region necessitates a comprehensive approach involving sustainable land management practices, stronger legal frameworks, community – based forest management, reforestation and afforestation initiatives , awareness campaign, alternative livelihood options, international cooperation, research and monitoring ,addressing economic drivers, and climate change adaptation. Collaboration among the governments, local communities and international  stakeholders is crucial in implementing these strategies to mitigate deforestation and project the valuable forest ecosystems of  the Himalayas.
