BI News,India: Palestinians scrambled to flee northern Gaza on Saturday after the Israeli military ordered nearly half the population to evacuate south and carried out limited ground forays ahead of an expected land offensive a week after Hamas’ bloody, wide-ranging attack into Israel.
Israel renewed calls on social media and in leaflets dropped from the air for some 1 million Gaza residents to move south, while Hamas urged people to stay in their homes. The U.N. and aid groups have said such a rapid exodus would cause untold human suffering, with hospital patients and others unable to relocate.
Families in cars, trucks and donkey carts packed with possessions crowded a main road heading away from Gaza City as Israeli airstrikes continued to hammer the 40-kilometer (25-mile) long territory, where supplies of food, fuel and drinking water were running low because of a complete Israeli siege. Egyptian officials said the southern Rafah crossing would open later Saturday for the first time in days to allow foreigners out. Israel said Palestinians could travel within Gaza without being harmed along two main routes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. local time.
The Israeli military said “hundreds of thousands” of Palestinians had already heeded the warning and headed south. But some live up to 20 kilometers (12 miles) away, and roads demolished by airstrikes and fuel shortage hindered their journeys.

Thousands of people crammed into a U.N.-run school-turned-shelter in Deir al-Balah, a farming town south of the evacuation zone. Many slept outside on the ground without mattresses, or in chairs pulled from classrooms.

“I came here with my children. We slept on the ground. We don’t have a mattress, or clothes,” Howeida al-Zaaneen, 63, who is from the northern town of Beit Hanoun, said. “I want to go back to my home, even if it is destroyed.”
The military said its troops conducted temporary raids into Gaza to battle militants and hunted for traces of some 150 people — including men, women and children — who were abducted during Hamas’ shocking Oct. 7 assault on southern Israel.

Casualty Count in the Ongoing Palestine-Israel Conflict Exceeds 2,300

The Gaza Health Ministry said Saturday that over 2,200 people have been killed in the territory, including 724 children and 458 women. The Hamas assault killed more than 1,300 people on the Israeli side, most of them civilians, and roughly 1,500 Hamas militants were killed during the fighting, the Israeli government said.

Fearing a mass exodus of Palestinians, Egyptian authorities erected “temporary” blast walls on Egypt’s side of the heavily-guarded Rafah crossing, which has been closed for days because of Israeli airstrikes, two Egyptian officials said on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media.

BI News,India:In Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Oikya Parishad on Wednesday demanded special security measures during the pre- and post-polling periods of the upcoming national election.

The Oikya Parishad, representing minority voices, submitted a memorandum containing their demands to declare minority-dominated areas as ‘risky zones’ during polls to the chief election commissioner of Bangladesh.

According to the memorandum, the parishad also demanded that law enforcement agencies like police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and other paramilitary forces be deployed at the risky zones and a monitoring cell formed for regular monitoring of the situation.

The Parishad spokesperson said minorities were making these demands as they faced violence during election time in the past.

They also pressed for a ban on the use of religion and communalism in election campaigns and a prohibition on the use of all places of worship like mosques, temples, pagodas, and churches for campaigning.

South African protestors were chanting “Free Palestine” during demonstrations that took place in South Africa’s Johannesburg and Cape Town cities on October 11. This follows an incursion by Palestinian militant group Hamas that left scores of people killed on October 7, prompting Israel to retaliate with unrelenting airstrikes on Gaza.

In Johannesburg, outside the United States of America Consulate, dozens of people, staged a protest to denounce Israel for what they called ‘oppression of Palestinians’. During the protest, a scuffle broke out when one Israeli-supporter staged a counter demonstration.

In Cape town, dozens of protestors gathered outside the South African Jewish Museum, holding placards and calling for the freedom of Palestine.

Demonstrators in Toronto rallied on October 9 in support of Palestinians and marched toward the Israeli consulate, following the weekend’s multi-pronged attack on Israel by Hamas.

Chanting slogans such as “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”, the protesters gathered in front of the City Hall. The crowd included some counter-protesters waving Israel’s flag.

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered in Barcelona, Spain, on October 11 after an incursion by Palestinian militant group Hamas over the weekend killed hundreds of people, prompting Israel to retaliate with unrelenting airstrikes on Gaza.

About 200 people gathered with Palestinian flags and banners reading “It’s not a conflict, it’s a genocide” or “Stand with Palestine” outside European Union facilities.

Police briefly detained several pro-Palestinian protesters in Berlin’s Kreuzberg-Neukoelln districts on Wednesday (October 11) after planned demonstrations were banned by authorities the evening before.

According to Israeli media reports on Wednesday, more than 1,200 people had been killed and 2,700 others injured on the Israel side since the new round of Palestine-Israel conflict broke out on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,128 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank had been killed and 5,489 others injured. Among them, 1,100 people were killed and about 5,339 others injured in the Gaza Strip, according to the latest figures released by the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, launched a massive surprise attack on Israel on Saturday. In response, the Israeli military conducted air strikes targeting Hamas sites and headquarters in the coastal enclave. The new round of conflict has led to massive casualties on both sides.

Also for retaliation, Israel’s Energy Minister Israel Katz ordered the Israeli national water company Mekorot to immediately cut off the water supply to Gaza on Sunday, and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Monday ordered the “complete siege” of the Gaza Strip, triggering a severe humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

BI News,India:Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu forged an emergency government on Wednesday (October 11) to direct war against Hamas, and his defence minister vowed to wipe the Palestinian militant group “off the face of the earth” over its deadly weekend attack.

Islamist Hamas gunmen invaded Israel from the Gaza Strip on Saturday in a surprise assault that killed at least 1,200 people, the deadliest Palestinian militant attack in Israeli history.

Israel has responded with a massive bombardment of Gaza that has killed 1,055 and deployed thousands of troops around the enclave amid growing expectations it will launch a ground invasion to destroy Hamas.

In a joint statement, Netanyahu and former defence chief and centrist opposition party leader Benny Gantz said they had agreed to form an emergency government comprising the two leaders and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant.

Gallant, the defence minister, said: “We will wipe this thing called Hamas, ISIS-Gaza, off the face of the earth. It will cease to exist.”

India started ‘Operation Ajay’ to safely rescue its citizens stranded in Israel.

Gantz, a former Israeli defence chief and general, said it was a time of war, and to join together.

During the fighting with Hamas in Gaza, the emergency government will not take up any unrelated policy or laws, Netanyahu and Gantz said in their joint statement.

Opposition leader Yair Lapid was not expected to join the emergency government at this stage.
