Ranchi University Presents Master Plan for Proposed New Campus

BI News, Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren held a high-level meeting with officials at the Jharkhand Secretariat in Ranchi regarding the proposed new campus of Ranchi University. In this meeting, the officials from the Department of Higher and Technical Education presented the detailed master plan for the new campus, which will be spread across 87 acres in the Cheri area of the capital city.

The Chief Minister carefully reviewed the entire master plan and provided several essential suggestions and guidelines. He emphasized the need to develop Ranchi University’s new campus in a way that gives it a unique identity. The new campus will comprise academic, administrative, recreational, residential, buffer, and extension zones.

Chief Minister Soren highlighted the importance of maintenance-free construction for all structures within the campus. He directed the officials to ensure that the buildings are constructed based on the geographical layout (contour) of the land. Detailed planning, considering the terrain, should precede the commencement of any construction work.

Additionally, the Chief Minister stressed the need for well-planned parking facilities in every zone of the campus. He emphasized the importance of maintaining greenery throughout the campus and instructed officials to install solar panels. Emergency exit routes, in addition to the main entrance and exit paths, were also suggested for the convenience of students and staff.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Soren emphasized the importance of having dedicated zones for various sports activities such as cricket, hockey, football, volleyball, and others. He stressed that each sport should have designated areas within the campus to avoid inconvenience to athletes. The meeting was attended by key officials including Chief Secretary Shri Sukhdev Singh, Principal Secretary Shrimati Vandana Dadhel, Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Vinay Kumar Chaube, Secretary of Building Construction Department Shri Sunil Kumar, Secretary of Higher Education Department Shri Rahul Purwar, Director of Higher Education Shrimati Garima Singh, and Ranchi University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ajit Kumar Sinha, among others.
