State-Level Swimming Competition Concludes with 29 Games in ‘Khelo Jharkhand’

BI News, Ranchi: The state-level swimming competition under the ‘Khelo Jharkhand’ initiative concluded at Veer Budhu Bhagat Stadium in Ranchi, organized by the Jharkhand Education Project Council. Dheeraj Sen Soren, State Program Officer, along with Barsha Sinha, President of Jharkhand Swimming Association, Upendra Tiwari, Secretary, and Shailendra Kumar Tiwari, Senior Vice President, awarded medals and certificates to the winners. The event also marked the conclusion of ‘Khelo Jharkhand 2023-24.’

Approximately 15,000 children from all districts participated in 29 different games across various age groups, showcasing the state’s sporting talent. The selected participants will undergo a special 21-day training camp. Notably, Jharkhand athletes secured two silver medals in wrestling and exhibited outstanding performance in under-19 football in Srinagar, reaching the knockout stage. The Judo team is set to compete in Jammu from November 15 to 19, while an under-17 yoga camp is underway at JCER campus in Tripura, with the team departing on November 19. The Education Project announced training camps for various sports starting from November 8, including football and yoga, followed by kho-kho on November 14, tennis and badminton on November 20, athletics on November 22, and volleyball on December 1. Education Secretary Ravi Kumar and State Project Director Kiran Kumari Pasi congratulated the organizers and expressed confidence in Jharkhand’s state team excelling in the upcoming National School Games, aiming for a top position in the medal tally.

BI News, Uttrakhand: Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, on Monday, reached for the ground inspection of the incident of landslide in the tunnel near Silkyara, Uttarkashi. During this, he took stock of the ongoing rescue and relief operations to rescue the workers trapped in the Silkyara Tunnel. The Chief Minister himself went to the tunnel to know the status of relief and rescue operations.

During the inspection, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the officials to speed up the relief and rescue work. The Chief Minister said that it is the top priority of the government to quickly rescue the laborers trapped in the tunnel, for which every possible effort is being made. While directing the officers and various agencies engaged in the relief and rescue operations to carry out the relief and rescue operations with high efficiency and full capacity, with better mutual coordination and promptness, the Chief Minister assured that all kind of resources and technical assistance being required from outside for the operation If there is a need, the government will make it available as soon as possible. He said that if any need arises at any level, the government should be informed immediately.

Arrangements have been made to send large diameter hume pipes from Haridwar and Dehradun for rescue operations. He said that the Prime Minister has assured all possible help to deal with this accident. Along with this, instructions have also been given to keep an eye on every situation. The Chief Minister said that central agencies have also been directed to cooperate in relief and rescue operations.

While giving information about the relief and rescue operations, District Magistrate Abhishek Ruhela, Superintendent of Police Arpan Yaduvanshi, NHIDCL and other agency officials said that the work of removing debris is going on continuously to rescue the workers trapped in the tunnel, heavy excavator machines were mobilized to remove the debris. To stop the cracking debris, short-creating is being done with machines. Messages have been exchanged through pipes with the workers trapped in the tunnel. Oxygen is being supplied through pipeline. Through this pipeline, packets of gram have been sent to the workers trapped in the tunnel at night under pressure through a compressor.

BI News, Lucknow: Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court has issued an order regarding the lawyers of Uttar Pradesh. Do not cooperate with land mafia and lawyers involved in land matters by wearing uniform. The Lucknow bench of the High Court has ordered the UP Bar Council to issue guidelines.

This order was given by the division bench of Justice Sangeeta Chandra and Justice NK Johri on the petition of local advocate Shubhanshu Singh. The petitioner said that he practices in Civil Court, Lucknow. On September 21, 2023, some of the same advocates beat and robbed him, for which he lodged an FIR. In the petition, a demand has been made to get the case investigated by CBI or any other independent agency. The petitioner also says that he has requested the District Judge to preserve the CCTV footage related to the incident.


While hearing the petition, the court has summoned the concerned ADCP to discuss the situation. Also asked the District Judge, Lucknow, what action did he take on the request of the petitioner? During the hearing, the fact also came before the court that in land disputes etc., some advocates reach the spot wearing uniform and try to give the impression of being lawyers. On this, the court ordered the Bar Council to issue guidelines in this regard. After this order of the High Court, the way has now been cleared to stop the arbitrariness of such lawyers. Jauhar Trust is accused of violating the terms and conditions by opening a private Rampur Public School and opening an SP office in the name of Darul Awam in the same building. When DM Ravindra Kumar Mandad sent this report to the government, recently the Yogi cabinet canceled the lease in favor of Jauhar Trust. After this, the administration gave notice to Johar Trust to vacate the building and land and after the notice period ended, on Friday, police and administration officials along with education department officials arrived and sealed Rampur Public School and SP office. During this time some SPs gathered and they were thrown out.

ADM Administration Lalta Prasad Shakya said, the lease of Johar Trust has been canceled by the government. In compliance with this, Rampur Public School and SP office were vacated on Friday and freed from the illegal occupation of Johar Trust. The Secondary Education Department has taken possession of its land and building.

BI News,New Delhi : Don’t try to non-perform and shift the burden onto the court, the Supreme Court told the Delhi government on Friday, making clear that the decision on introducing the odd-even car rationing scheme in the national capital has to be taken by the city government and the court will not issue any direction on it.
While hearing a matter on the worsening air quality in the Delhi-National Capital Region, a bench headed by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul said the court had nothing to do with the odd-even scheme and it had never said that it should also apply to taxis entering Delhi from the adjoining states.


During the hearing on debilitating air pollution in Delhi-NCR on November 7, the apex court had questioned the effectiveness of the scheme following which the city’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai said it will be implemented only after the apex court has heard the matter on Friday and issued an order. The top court is seized of a plea filed in 1985 by environmentalist M C Mehta on air pollution. Several issues concerning pollution have arisen during the hearing of Mehta’s petition.
The Delhi government had earlier announced it will implement the odd-even scheme a day after Diwali from November 13 to 20, when air pollution is likely to peak.
On Friday, the apex court said it had flagged the odd-even issue at the last hearing after an advocate, assisting it as an amicus curiae, said the odd-even plan does not actually help reduce air pollution.


The counsel representing the Delhi government said taxis from adjoining states were required to be allowed into Delhi as commuting will become a major problem otherwise. Lakhs of people working in Delhi live in cities like Noida and Gurugram in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
“I am agreeing with you. We never said that. Don’t try to non-perform and shift the burden onto the court. This is what is happening,” Justice Kaul observed.
“What you have to do, you have to do. We are not here to tell you what to do,” the bench told the lawyer.
